Say goodbye to dry skin!

Posted by Kellie Collis on

Now it’s starting to get cold here in Sydney, we’re all layering up and preparing for all that this cold weather will bring. One thing we’re especially prepping for is the inevitable dry skin that will come knocking at each of our doors. However, this year we aren’t letting her in. We’ve already let moisture and hydration in and frankly there’s just not enough room for all of us. So you may be asking yourself, how? How do they do it?

Sometimes it’s important to step back and think about why dry skin occurs in the first place, and it can come from so many things around us:

  • Body wash or shampoos/conditioners
  • Allergies from things like clothes washing detergents and fragrances
  • Environmental conditions such as cold weather, pollution, air conditioning or those extra hot showers
There are a few different ways to tackle dry skin and all are really simple but very effective methods;

1. Soak it out.

If you are concerned that your body wash may be causing irritation or you feel it is drying your skin, a simple way to quickly re-hydrate lack-lustre skin is soaking in some nutrient rich goodness like our Cocosoaks or Bath to Body Oil.

Coco-Soak – Our range of COCO-SOAK bath products (which comes in three varieties) is made with organic coconut milk powder, dead sea salt and aloe vera extract powder. Talk about a hydration powerhouse that’ll leave your skin feeling silky smooth. Add it to a warm bath and the high fat content from the coconut milk will be absorbed directly into the skin leaving it soft and silky like baby skin.

Bath to Body Oil – a few droplets into a warm bath, a bit of relaxation and your skin will thank you. The extensive vitamins and minerals of the Bath to Body Oil will leave your skin re-energised, supple and significantly softer. This is a super star product because you can use a few drops in the bath or directly onto the skin after your bath for a layered treatment. With a touch of dreamy lavender, we love this product of a night time, just before you head to bed.

2. Need to see quick results?

Sometimes removing dry and dead skin cells needs to be a fast ROI and a body scrub will do exactly that. What is important to remember with a body scrub is that yes, you want it to remove old, dry skin however it is incredibly important that it doesn’t strip the skin of its natural oil balance and leaving it even drier than it was before.

If you are looking for something with a bit more grit that won’t strip your skin of its own oil balance, our BODY POLISH is your lady. She is infused with coconut and jojoba oil, which when gently massaged into the skin will help leave it feeling soft and rejuvenated. Jojoba Oil is designed to help nurture and heal, while Coconut Oil will provide moisture and anti-aging properties. But her goodness doesn’t stop there, she also contains Shea Butter to help condition and soothe making her ideal for those experiencing extra dry skin.

When you wash off any of our scrubs, your skin will still be left soft and supple and never taut.

3. Close the loop – rehydration is key.

Always remember if you go to the effort of removing that pesky dry skin, it is really important to give your skin the nourishment it needs to promote fresh skin cells. Healthy, glowy skin, regardless of where it is on the body is generally skin that is really well hydrated.

Hydration can come in many forms and should provide the skin with vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and antioxidants to maximise skin health. It also should provide protection especially in colder months when the drier air equates to dry skin also.

  • Cream form – we are obsessed with our Magical Rose Illuminating Elixir Crème that is lightweight, fast-drying and will leave the skin with a beautiful soft glow.
  • Oil form – our Nourish and Revive is incredible for skin rejuvenation (assists with healing scars on the skin) as well as improving elasticity. Our Body Oil is a fast drying, BFF oil that is non-irritating, soothing and balancing for the skin.
Also, we know not all of you are bracing for the cold. Some of you are heading into the warmer months and we all here in our HQ, envy you! But dry skin can strike all year round and if nothing else we’re just giving you ample time to prep for winter!
